A pack of mischievous wild dogs used “poisonous tricks” to defeat wild buffalo

After separating the wild buffalo from the herd, the wild dogs immediately rushed in to attack and take down their prey.

In the clip, a pack of about 15 wild dogs recklessly rushed to attack a herd of adult wild buffalo. Their strategy was successful when they separated a buffalo from the herd.

Seeing their fellows in trouble, some wild buffalo rushed to the rescue. However, some stray dogs immediately split into another group to stop them. Before the cunning of the opposing team, the lone wild buffalo was defeated immediately afterwards.

African wild dogs are known to be masters of the art of coordinated hunting on the savannah with a success rate of up to 3/4 in each hunting trip. They also have one of the strongest bites among carnivorous mammals.

To hunt a large prey, members of the herd need to have good coordination. Before chasing prey, they spread out to surround and choose a target. One bird approaches the prey, another moves to block the flank and the others line up alternately. Their purpose is to separate the intended target from the herd, surround the flank and close in to prevent the prey from escaping. That is an extremely effective and scientific way to hunt with species that live in groups.
