While preparing to become prey for the hyenas, the male lion was suddenly rushed to the rescue by his brethren.

Specifically, an adult male lion was surrounded and cornered by a group of hyenas. In what seemed like despair, the other lions in the pride heard its roar and quickly ran to the rescue.

Despite having an advantage in numbers, the hyenas still had to run away when chased by the lionesses.

Hyenas are considered one of the greediest carnivores on land. They rarely hunt on their own, but mainly follow animals such as lions, leopards… and steal their food.

In Africa, hyenas often clash with lions, usually when the hyenas are looking at prey the lions have hunted. However, clashes between them rarely lead to loss of life because hyenas often steal prey in groups when lions are vulnerable and rescue individuals in the group that are being attacked. Lions will mostly only attack for the purpose of protecting food.
